McBride Sisters
Raised among the vines of Monterey, California and Marlborough, New Zealand, one could say that the McBride Sisters’ path to winemaking was destiny at work. Newly found sisters who had been raised across the world from one another, Robin and Andréa’s love affair with wine was planted within them from an early age while growing up in two of the world’s most iconic wine-growing regions.
In 2005, the sisters found themselves together in California, fueled by a shared passion for all things wine, wine-making and a desire to shake up the industry with a blend of old-world elegance and new-world finesse. It was then that the McBride Sisters Collection was born. As the work began, so did their reality as two fierce, female and forward-thinking leaders in an industry historically defined by tradition and gender. But, like countless groundbreaking women before them, Andréa and Robin saw every obstacle as an opportunity to chart their own path rather than follow the standard formula.
Over time, McBride Sisters has grown into what is not only the largest Black-owned wine company in the United States, but one of the most inclusive, accessible, socially aware and sustainable. These values show up not only in the wines they make but in all facets of their company. Their signature McBride Sisters Collection wines are direct reflections of the terroirs of their youth, with flavors designed for all palates.
The fun, fab and eco-friendly SHE CAN collection and it’s related SHE CAN Professional Development Fund, are inspired by the endless pursuit of all women who are making their dreams a reality and breaking barriers daily. And the Black Girl Magic collection, Robin and Andrea’s personal ode to their culture and story, is inspired by the magic and resilience of Black women, to be enjoyed by all. Since 2005, The McBride Sisters’ mission has become clear—to transform the industry, lead by example, and cultivate community, one delicious glass of wine, at a time.

The Choice Program
The Choice Program offers whole-family support for Black homeschooling families looking to leverage their ability to sustain their home schools. Unlike other homeschool support programs, families choose which resources are best for their home school. They provide a mentor who supports home educators in identifying and obtaining resources. Through financial and network support, we provide access to resources, communities, programming and learning experiences that are customized to each family’s needs. In turn, home educators and students partner with us to co-design and enhance our programming.
Joyelle Naomi is the founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Denver Independent School (DIS) and Black Homeschooling Sustainability Initiative (BHSI). She is a 2021 Camelback Fellow and 2020 Moonshot edVentures Fellow. She holds a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology, and is a home-based educator and co-founder of Kulan Village Homeschool Co-op. Passionate about encouraging more families to homeschool, she began to lay the groundwork for DIS, realizing that many underrepresented groups, like BIPOC students and students with different needs, don't always have the resources necessary to sustainably homeschool.

Kemetic Knowledge
There is no tree without roots. We all have roots in a fascinating, ancient culture whose influence on science and philosophy today has been largely forgotten. Modern history teaches us that the Greeks were responsible for the birth of philosophy and ethics.
This perspective leaves out the people who taught the Greeks after spending thousands of years developing an advanced way of understanding the world. The forgotten originators of much of today’s knowledge came from the ancient civilization of Kemet. The area they occupied is now called Egypt.
The ancient scholars of Kemet developed the Kemetic Mystery System. In addition to being the oldest spiritual system, it taught concepts of medicine and astronomy that we still do not completely understand today. The Kemites kept the Mystery System exclusive until Alexander the Great invaded Kemet and forced them to share their knowledge with any Greek who wished to study it. Thus, it was African people who laid the foundation for today’s understanding of the world. However, European historians do not give the African people enough credit for their contributions to today’s society.
We aim to draw attention to Africans’ significant role by honoring them through our line of clothing.

Glamourina
Mom’s on a Mission
Glamourina is the go-to activewear brand for culturally conscious women offering size inclusive activewear. We exist to motivate women of color to live healthy, active lifestyles by providing cultural athletic apparel.
Understanding that healthy lifestyles have a great importance in our psychological and physical wellness, Kia Phillips and Nekol Gaskins realized there was a void in the athleisure apparel market for socially conscious women and working mothers. “There were few images of women that looked like us in the market, and there were few designs that represented our culture and heritage”. So, in the spirit of creation these Queens decided to embark on a journey birthing their own inspirational athleisure brand Glamourina.

Flynn & Mona Dickerson moved to Colorado in the 1970s from the Virgin Islands, and aspired to bring a taste of home to the U.S. For over 35 years, the Dickerson family has worked hard to serve island-inspired Southern dishes and has been a strong pillar in the community.
Recently celebrating 20 years of business, Welton Street Cafe was opened at its current location in 1999, and continues to be a soul food staple in the Five Points Community. It has withstood the test of time and stands as the longest-running and last-of-its-kind restaurant in the area.
Three out of the nine children in the Dickerson family, twins Fathima & Fathim and Cenya, now run the restaurant with their parents' support. As Flynn says, "Family is Everything."

Les Chocolateries Askanya
Les Chocolateries Askanya is Haiti’s first and only premier bean-to-bar chocolate company. We exclusively use Haitian cacao to produce our chocolates in our facility located in Ouanaminthe, Haiti.
PRIDE IN OUR HAITIAN CACAO
Unbeknownst to many people, the Haitian cacao is highly ranked on the international cacao market.
Realizing this, we decided to produce delicious and high quality chocolates in Haiti, made only with Haitian cacao. We wanted a product that Haitians, whether in our ten Departments or in the Diaspora, could enjoy and be proud of.
We also wished for every chocolate connoisseur and lover worldwide to savor and fall in love with our chocolate treats – “Grown in Haiti, Made in Haiti, Enjoyed Everywhere”.
THIS WAS, IS AND CONTINUES TO BE A LABOR OF LOVE
We visited cacao farms and met with farmers, members of the Fédération des Coopératives Cacaoyères du Nord (FECANNO). These cacao farmers, originally trained by volunteers from Agronomist and Veterinary without Borders, shared with us their procedures in harvesting, fermenting and drying cacao – this know- how is very important to extract the ultimate flavor of the cacao beans. The farmers became our cacao suppliers.
In addition, we consulted with world-class chocolatiers from France and the USA who meticulously trained our team in the bean-to-bar chocolate making processes.
Furthermore, we converted one of our grandparents’ house located in Ouanaminthe (a small town turned commercial hub, thanks to its proximity to the border with the Dominican Republic) into a colorful chocolate factory.
OUR NAME “ASKANYA”
We named our company after one of our founder’s German hometown “Aschersleben”. In its Latinized form “Ascania,” it connects to the ancient figure Ascanius. Just as Ascanius became the legendary King in Roman mythology, we are sure Askanya will become the Queen of chocolate in her new Caribbean home.
DELICIOUS CHOCOLATES MADE IN HAITI
We are now ready to share these delicious chocolate treats with you. On behalf of the more than 3,000 Haitian farmers who grow our cacao and the dedicated team at Les Chocolateries Askanya, we thank you for choosing our chocolate treats – “Grown in Haiti, Made in Haiti, Enjoyed Everywhere”.

Becoming Maternity
The creative concept of Becoming Boutique, to offer environmentally-conscious, fashionable and affordable maternity clothing in Colorado, was born during my own pregnancies. Frustrated with the lack of affordable options and driven by my own desire to fashionably cloth my growing bump – on a budget – I turned to thrift stores for loose fitting summer wear. When pregnant with my second child, I suffered through the winter in uncomfortable non-maternity pants, refusing to invest in the high price tags of a new maternity wardrobe for what I knew was my last pregnancy.
With a desire to immediately help my community, we launched the region’s first and only fashion truck for expectant mothers in 2017. We hit the road and made multiple stops on the local farmer’s market and festival circuit. The convenience of the mobile model appealed to busy moms-to-be, helping them keep their personal style in tact throughout their transformation, without hurting their bank accounts.
We were very pleased with our welcome into the Denver market. While our first summer of beta testing proved this to be a viable concept, we chose to take 2018 to research and develop additional ways to improve our services and reach. We’re so excited to offer you Becoming Boutique 2.0!
In addition to the fashion truck rolling around the Denver Metro area, you can now shop from our on-trend, freshly laundered maternity inventory online, save even more with personally styled Becoming Bundles (no styling fee) and we’re rolling out event planning services to help you, or your BFF, plan the perfect baby shower, sprinkle or 1st birthday celebration.
As we grow, we promise to remain committed to our three core principles: accessibility, affordability, and sustainability. More offerings only means we can help more Becoming moms without the limiting variable of proximity. We're building a national community to support expectant moms of every background. Our pricing will always remain low so you can achieve a stylish bump without cracking your family’s nest egg. And at the heart of everything we do is our love for Mother Earth. Our focus on eco-friendly business practices will be felt right down to the 100% recycled mailers.
Please join our village by subscribing to our mailing list and following us on social media. We're looking forward to celebrating all that you are Becoming!
